Community groups and non-profit organisations that service the Greater Geraldton region are encouraged to update their details on the City’s online Community Directory.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said the Directory was an invaluable tool for both residents and groups.
“The Community Directory is a popular tool for new residents and locals alike to learn more about what services are on offer in our region,” he said.
“Nearly 200 groups and organisations have taken advantage of listing in the directory since it launched on our website in 2017 and we want to ensure we have accurate listings.
“Any group that services the Greater Geraldton region can add their details, and once approved, they can update their listing at any time with minimal fuss.
“With that in mind, we’ll be phasing out existing pages on the City of Greater Geraldton website that list contact information in favour of the Community Directory on 30 June 2019, so it’s important to make sure you’re listed,” Mayor Van Styn added.
The Directory allows website users to search via well-defined categories or keywords, with listings having the ability to display contact details as well as a description on what the group or organisation does for the community.
Categories include Aboriginal services, arts and cultural groups, churches and religion groups, community services, education, emergency services, government services, health services, justice of the peace, marriage celebrants, media services, neighbourhood development and community action groups, seniors services, social and leisure groups, sport and recreation groups, and youth services.
Adding or editing a listing on the Community Directory is free of charge and can be done at any time by visiting https://www.cgg.wa.gov.au/listings/community and following the prompts.
