Keen for a big dose of local music live and loud? Battle of the Bands is back on Sunday 27 October and its set to be the best one yet!

Now in its third year, Battle of the Bands pits local music acts against each other for a chance to be crowned Geraldton’s best.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said it was shaping up to be an epic showdown.

“So far we have 13 incredibly talented local acts signed up and ready to bring their best to the stage,” he said.

“These bands have been hitting rehearsals hard in preparation for the big day and I can’t wait to see the show they put on.

“It’s going to be a cracking afternoon, so make sure you get down to the QPT Amphitheatre to support home-grown talent!”

The band deemed the best on the day will be rewarded with $2,000 cash. Additional prizes will also be awarded for best youth band, best original song and best musician.

Those tasked with the tough gig of judging the competition this year are Joanne Panter, James Thompson and Peter Vanderpol.

The City would like to thank Rio Tinto, Opus Music Geraldton and Geraldton PCYC for their support of this all ages, drug and alcohol free event.

Battle of the Bands will kick off at 12pm on Sunday 27 October and finish up at 4pm.
