Aspiring local music talent have the opportunity to show Geraldton what they’ve got when Battle of the Bands returns to Queens Park Theatre on Sunday 17 October.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn encouraged both established bands and individual musicians to consider throwing their hat in the ring.

“Battle of the Bands never fails to disappoint, which is no surprise considering how talented the local music scene is,” he said.

“There will be cash prizes up for grabs again this year, as well as prizes for best original song and best under 25’s band.

“Registrations are open now, so head to the City’s website to register.”

Local musician and Battle of the Bands 2019 winner Ian Weggler has also come onboard as an ambassador for the event.

“Battle of the Bands was just next level and I’m stoked to be able to pass on all the experience I have gained to the next generation of up and coming musicians,” he said.

“As with previous years, a tailor-made space is available for individual musicians to come down and form a band with other participants, and mentors will be on hand to help you out.

“You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by entering!”

Anyone interested in entering the competition is encouraged to head down to 201 Lester Avenue from 5pm on Monday 26 July for an informal meet and greet and Q&A session with established musicians and event organisers.

Battle of the Bands is set to take place on Sunday 17 October from 12-4pm at Queens Park Theatre Amphitheatre.

Registration forms for both individuals and established bands can be found on the City’s website at cgg.wa.gov.au
