ANZAC Day important information

Those commemorating ANZAC Day this weekend are advised of the following information:

Location

This weekend’s ANZAC Day service in Geraldton will take place at Wonthella Oval on Eighth Street at 6am. The parade will commence from 5:45am. Patrons are advised to arrive at Wonthella Oval between 5am and 5:30am and move onto the oval ready for the 5:45am parade. The grandstand will be made available to the public. Please maintain social distancing in your group bubbles and follow direction from Police and COVID marshals.

COVID-19 restrictions

If you have been in Perth since 17 April please consider staying home and viewing the dawn service via the live broadcast. If you choose to attend the dawn service at Wonthella Oval ensure you comply with any requirements to wear a mask as per the Premier’s announcement on Friday 23 April 2021.

Parking and accessibility

Parking will be available for the general public at Wonthella Oval and surrounding Eighth Street precinct. The main entrance will be via the oval entryway at Towns Football Club. If you have any accessibility requirements, in regards to parking or attendance at the event, please contact events@cgg.wa.gov.au to ensure your needs are met. 

Parade and RSL members

If you are part of the parade, a member of the RSL, or driving a service vehicle, please contact the RSL for more information on where to park. If you are a member of the RSL, part of the ANZAC Day parade, or wish to be seated alongside the RSL for the service please contact the Geraldton RSL. At the conclusion of the service, Geraldton City RSL members and all veterans together with their families are invited to return to Birdwood House for a Gunfire Breakfast and traditional ANZAC Day activities from 7:30am.

Mullewa

A free community breakfast will take place at 8am at the Sports Club, followed by an ANZAC Day service which starts at 9:30am at the ANZAC War Memorial. Marchers are to please congregate at 9:15am at the Mullewa District Office. A morning tea will be held after the service.

Other important information

If you wish to lay a wreath, the RSL ask that you please lay a wreath at Birdwood House either before or after the service. Wreath layers for the service have already been allocated.

Those attending will not be required to register for tickets but people are asked to follow all COVID-related guidelines including social distancing and using the SafeWA app or sign in sheets at the event entrance.

If you’re unable to attend the event, it will be livestreamed on the RSL and City’s Facebook pages.
