About the position:

The City is seeking a purchasing specialist to join our procurement team to fill a full time, twenty four (24) months fixed term contract (with the possibility of extension).

This position is responsible for the effective implementation of processes and procedures in relation to the City’s tendering and contracting function. This includes the administration of tenders as well as the compliance and probity advice relating to the tender process. 

Key accountabilities:

  • Ensure effective implementation of the City's tendering, contracts and contract management as per City policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure that the highest possible professional standards are maintained in relation to confidentiality, probity and ethical conduct.
  • Provide advice and liaise with all parties relating to procurement processes including the development of tenders and significant quotations to a high standard of compliance and the application of conditions of contract.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant requires:

  • A qualification in management, business or procurement and relevant experience, or lesser qualification with significant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding and proficiency in applying underlying principles of procurement (including quotations, tenders and contract management).
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to consult, negotiate and resolve issues whilst providing quality customer service.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $93,420 per annum or $47.2773 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications. Applicants who have strong knowledge, skills and experience but do not have formal qualifications are encouraged to apply and a commensurate salary will apply.
