About the position:

The position of Plant Operator is part of the Rural Roads team within the City’s Maintenance Operations department and is responsible for the construction and maintenance of unsealed roads and shoulders for the City of Greater Geraldton.

Key accountabilities:

  • General operation of plant and hand tools, carry out maintenance and/or labour duties as required.
  • Operate plant and specialised road maintenance equipment in a competent and safe manner including rollers, loaders, trucks, graders, bobcats, excavators and other machinery as required.
  • Ensure that regular routine daily maintenance is carried out and that relevant log books and pre-start are completed.

This position works a 9 day fortnight with every second Friday as a rostered day off.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will hold a current HC class driver’s licence and have demonstrated experience with the safe use of plant and equipment associated with road construction and maintenance, including side-tippers, rollers, loaders, graders, bobcats and excavators.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $57,419 per annum or $29.05 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
