About the position:

The Geraldton Regional Art Gallery seeks to foster, promote and enhance an understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and other art forms throughout the broader community. The Gallery Officer is responsible for assisting the Coordinator in all administration and customer service tasks relating to the running of the gallery.

This position is for a fixed term of 3 years on full-time basis of 38 hours per week.

Key accountabilities:

  • Attend to the front desk of the gallery and be the first point of contact for visitors to the gallery.
  • Provide assistance in the development and execution of exhibition opening nights including arranging catering, guest lists, promotions, invitations and mayoral and councillor invitations and speeches.
  • Handle art works within the city collection and temporary exhibitions to best museum practise including the installation and de-installation of temporary exhibitions.
  • Provide a friendly, responsive and customer focused service to internal and external gallery visitors.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience in an administrative role in an office environment, preferably in the arts sector as well as experience following best museum practice in handling art works, including installing and de-installation of exhibitions. Additionally, developed written, oral and interpersonal and team work skills are required.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $60,646 per annum or $30.6914 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
