Workshop
A Building in which a handicraft or process for the production, assembling, altering, repairing, packing, finishing, or cleaning of goods or produce is carried on for trade, sale, or gain.
This type of building is classified as a Class 8.

A Building Permit is required to be lodged with the City of Greater Geraldton to construct a Workshop and any work over $20 000 will require the services of a Registered Building Services Contractor.

To achieve the requirement of energy efficiency provisions of the National Construction Code of Australia and the addition provisions for Western Australia an energy efficiency assessment must also be completed prior to submission of the building licence application.

An energy efficiency assessor can be found at the ABSA website.

When to submit a planning application

All land in the City of Greater Geraldton falls under Town Planning Scheme controls, so if you are considering erecting a building or intend using land for a purpose different to its current use please contact the Town Planning Services team first. You may need to lodge a development application and planning approval may need to be obtained before taking any further action.
