Shed
Structure that is enclosed and is used for storage and is non-habitable. Building classification is 10A.

The National Construction Code requires a shed (class 10a) to be separated from either the dwelling or allotted boundary by 900mm.

If the proposed shed is to be located on allotment boundary and is within 900mm of the dwelling the construction of the wall on the allotted boundary needs to achieve a fire resistance level FFL of 60/60/60.

Neighbours' consultation may also be required if the shed if located within 1metre of the boundary. Also see the various planning requirements for outbuildings.

When to submit a planning application

All land in the City of Greater Geraldton falls under Town Planning Scheme controls, so if you are considering erecting a building or intend using land for a purpose different to its current use please contact the Town Planning Services team first. You may need to lodge a development application and planning approval may need to be obtained before taking any further action.
