Patio description
Building classification is a 10a Structure. It has a solid roof that may be attached to a building or free standing. It is used for outside entertainment, a verandah or front portico.
Carport description
A structure that has a solid roof that maybe attached to a building or free standing used for parking or storage of vehicles. A carport may be placed on the allotment boundary only if it achieves 2 or more sides open with not less than one third of its perimeter open and, for the purposes of this, a side is considered to be open if the roof covering adjacent to that side is not less than 500 mm from another building or allotment boundary; it has a polycarbonate or non-combustible roof covering and any ceiling lining, wall cladding, including gables is also non-combustible.

When to submit a Planning application

All land in the City of Greater Geraldton falls under Town Planning Scheme controls, so if you are considering erecting a building or intend using land for a purpose different to its current use please contact the Town Planning Services team first. You may need to lodge a development application and planning approval may need to be obtained before taking any further action.
