Demolition Permit
If you intend to demolish all or part of any building or other structure, including outbuildings, you must submit an application for a Demolition Permit. This is to enable the City of Greater Geraldton to confirm there is no reason why the building should not be demolished, having regard to possible heritage significance. A Demolition Permit regulates the manner in which the demolition occurs, such as vermin control, managing potential health hazards and preventing discomfort to neighbours.

When to submit a planning application

All land in the City of Greater Geraldton falls under Town Planning Scheme controls, so if you are considering demolishing a building or structure listed on the municipal inventory please contact the Town Planning Services team first. You may need to lodge a development application and planning approval may need to be obtained before taking any further action.
