Residents Rates and Payments
Rates and other payments can be made:
- Online from our website using your credit card
- Australia Post
- In person
- Direct Debit from your bank account (where approved)
You can make online payments through BPoint using your credit card. Click on the appropriate link below and you will be taken to the secure BPoint payments site. A minimum payment amount is $10.
BPAY is a payment option available via online and phone banking. You must contact your bank to set up BPAY. A minimum payment amount is $10.
Pay in person at any post office, by phone on 131816, or at the Australia Post online payments site.

To pay your rates by mail, send the bottom section of the rates notice with a cheque payable to:

With your permission, this arrangement plan allows your bank to transfer agreed amounts to Council for your rates payment. To have an arrangement plan you need to:
- have a cheque or savings account
- complete the direct debit application form and send it to Council.

The 2013/14 budget reflects a number of initiatives which Council will undertake over the next 12 months as we continue to provide capital works and service delivery for a growing community. The rate increase provides a balance between the high demand for service delivery and the development of the City and is in accordance with Council’s plan for the next five years.
All rate accounts are calculated by multiplying the properties Gross Rental Value (GRV), which is supplied by Landgate, by the rate in the dollar which is set by Council at the annual budget meeting. Non residential properties in the City Centre, Marina Mixed Use and Additional Use City zones have been additionally charged a specified area rate. The specified area rate was introduced to fund car parking operations which includes land acquisition, parking development, operations, maintenance and any associated financing costs.
