The GoGero Digi-Hub at 71 Marine Terrace houses the Digital Hub program. This is a not-for-profit initiative which was jointly established by the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE) and the City of Greater Geraldton.

The Digital Hub is an emerging Centre which brings together skills, knowledge and expertise in digital media and innovative technology, providing a one-stop point of contact for facilitating skills transfer and education of new technologies and digital media to local communities.

The spirit of the Hub is to work without barriers, creating, using and passing on knowledge for the benefit of all - students, businesses, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), senior citizens and the indigenous community in line with the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) in Geraldton. Its mandate is to enable the local community to gain Information Technology (IT) skills, be more digitally inclusive and ultimately become more competitive in today’s digital-based economy.

The Digital Hub has been purposefully designed to provide infrastructure and training programs to narrow the gap between those Australians who engage online and those who do not. It will enable local residents to increase their online engagement and better understand the opportunities created by the NBN by demonstrating applications enabled by high-speed broadband.

The Digital Hub Program

The Digital Hub program has been introduced and delivered at the GoGERO Digi-Hub location. This program is aimed at providing local residents with training in digital literacy skills and to help them to actively participate in an NBN-enabled digital economy. This initiative will also demonstrate the opportunities presented by the NBN and how households may be able to take advantage of these opportunities by connecting with it.

The Digital Hub program will contribute to the government's vision for Australia as a leading global digital economy by 2020. Through this program, FREE Information Technology training and consultancy will be provided to explain the benefits of participating online, to drive greater digital literacy skills and to demonstrate the possibilities of using the NBN.

Participants of the program will learn how to engage in basic online activities such as: setting up an email account, conducting effective internet searches, participating in e-commerce and online shopping, accessing government services, and connecting with family and friends online.
