APEX Wife Carrying Competition
The APEX Wife Carrying Competition 150m course will commence at 4pm in front of the stage at Stow Gardens winding down to the beach and returning to the stage area.

Dreamfit Foundation
We have some fantastic news for this coming Australia Day!
Dreamfit Foundation will be in Geraldton for the Australia Day celebrations!!!
Dreamfit Foundation is a unique Western Australian not-for-profit organisation that uses innovative engineering to fulfill dreams and overcome the challenges and frustrations of people with disabilities.
They focus on giving people with disabilities the opportunity to take part in lifestyle and recreational activities that have previously been beyond their reach.
Dreamfit technicians and volunteers have engineered some amazing equipment giving people with disabilities to love their dreams!

HMAS Stirling visit Geraldton
The Royal Australian Navy Domestic Engagement Team will be attending the Australia Day events this year!
They will be showcasing a number of Life saving equipment including a 10 man life raft, various life jacket demo's and boarding party equipment.
The 100 year's of Navy Media Board will be displayed along with a Knot tying Board, Type 18 Submarine Sea Suit.
Various interactive activities and colouring in competitions will be run through-out the day.
There will be numerous Brand Navy giveaways with ADF Careers information available at the stand.

The swim starts at 8.30am and there is a prize for each division.

Batavia Coast Pipe Band Inc.
The Batavia Coast Pipe band Inc. are performing in the morning parade for the Australia Day celebrations, including a small performance later in the day at Champion Bay.
Since their inception in 2004, the band has played at countless functions always demonstrating professionalism with endless entertainment and lasting memories.
The band has performed at:
- Anzac Day
- Australia Day
- Sunshine Festival
- School Fetes
- Police Remembrance Day
- Relay for Life
And many more.
Batavia Coast Pipe Band consists of drummers, learner drummers, pipers and learner pipers.
The group meet every Tuesday evening at the Residency marine Terrace at 6.30pm through to 8.30pm.
Marching practice is held at Shepard's Park, opposite the Residency.
Beginners are always welcomed! membership fees consist of $12 annually, or $2 per lesson.

Men of the Trees
Men of the Trees (MOTT) are now on board for Australia Day and are planning some excellent events for everyone to enjoy!
To celebrate this big event MOTT are hoping to run the 'One Million Trees Races' for all ages.
Each competitor will carry a potted native plant with them from the start to the finish line. There will be different sized pots for different ages.
Plus, there will be great prizes to be won!
For all creative people, a colouring-in competition will be held. This can be found in the newspaper next week (21st of January - 25th of January). The competition will be judged on Australia Day.
The very successful 'Paint the Leaf' activity will be available on the day and is open to all children and adults. Participants will paint their leaf and write on the leaf explaining why they think trees are important. Then the leaves will be used to decorate an imitation tree.
Another fun activity to get active in is the 'Match the Seed to the Plant'. Participants will read the description of the plant and find the seed/seed pods to match.
Each participant will receive a local native plant for participating in the MOTT activities.

Midwest Surf School
What is more Australian than surfing? Midwest Surf School and Christian Surfers Geraldton will be running Beach Games and Activities at 'Foreshore Beach 3' every 15 minutes from 10:30 until 2pm on Australia Day.
Vegemite SurfGrom activities to suit 5-12 year old will include toe tag, rob the nest, paddle races, knee boxing, tarp surfing and bury your mate.
Midwest Surf School operator, Keith Roffman, is very excited to be part of Australian Day and is looking forward to challenging the grommets in these beach games.

Sculptured Lantern Project
Local artists in conjunction with the ACDC Community Gallery are participating in Geraldton's first ‘Sculptured Lantern Project’ to create lantern sculptures for display on the foreshore beach on Australia Day. The theme of the project is ‘Wind on Water’.

Sand Sculpture Competition
The Geraldton Sand Sculpture Competition will create a dynamic visual activity on Australia Day with great prize money incentives: 1st Prize $2000 I 2nd Prize $1000 I 3rd Prize $500
Limited to just 10 teams of between 2 and 4 team members, this competition promises to be a great opportunity to develop and test your creative skills. Men's Shed
The Geraldton Men's Shed will be open to visitors on Australia Day between 9am and 4pm with demonstrations between 10am and 2pm.
See demonstrations of wood turning, creating bush instruments and project display. Products will be for sale and members on hand to provide information about what the Men's Shed does.

Barefoot
Barefoot formed for Australia Day 2012. Although they have varied musical tastes and influences, in common they have a desire to make music fun and not to take themselves too seriously. The name barefoot suits the relaxed approach they have to their music. They will be playing a mix of country and folk rock covers from artists such as Paul Kelly and John Williamson.
The band currently consists of Greg Hornsby (Guitar and vocals), Jane Beck (Vocals), Josh Beck (Bass), Gavin Law-Davis (Harmonica) and Tim Burns (drums).

The Last Resort - Tropical Teenage Retreat
This Australia Day, teenagers will be treated to a space of their own amongst the full day of celebrations along the foreshore. The Last Resort will be a tropical retreat for teenagers. There will be a 'huge' marquee on the ocean side of the half Basketball court, thumping with music, icy mocktails, refreshing demister, resort style furniture, day spa and staff!
If you are a young person with some spare time over the school holidays – why not help us make this event a huge success! Go GERO! Australia Day Stall
The Go GERO! stall will provide families with an interactive station where they can create a FREE fruit kebab or apple slinky! While stopping by, people can be enlightened on the various Go GERO! programs and activities. Don’t forget to look out for the public health campaign give a-ways such as materials from the Swap It Don’t Stop It merchandise.

Circus Challenge - FUN for Everyone!

KiteWest Kiteboarding School Expo
Geraldton’s consistent summer winds have earned the City the title of the country’s windsurfing and kite surfing capital! Conditions are so ideal for windsurfing and kite surfing that hundreds of fans from across the globe descend on Geraldton each year to experience the thrill of racing across the water on a sail or kite board.
KiteWest Kiteboarding School is Geraldton's only kiteboarding school offering kiteboarding lessons with qualified instructors. Their friendly instructors are all qualified through IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) and can teach to suit all abilities with a strong focus on safety.
This year's theme for this year's Geraldton Australia Day event is 'wind on water'.
The KiteWest team are offering kiteboarding (using a trainer kite) and SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) initiations on the day and all initiations/demos are FREE!
KiteWest Kiteboarding School and Gspot Extreme Watersports staff will also be on hand to talk about any of the equipment.

Phil Doncon
Phil Doncon's unique ‘live’ painting performances are vigorous and dynamic. He creates rapid fire images while leaping and twirling, moving flat-out in unison to diverse sound tracks. Phil says “a paint brush moving at speed has a spontaneity that cannot be prearranged. My approach is to move quickly, to have courage, to risk failure in order to make breakthroughs in both art and life”. Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards 2013

In 2 Cricket
Do your kids like cricket? If so, bring them to the Foreshore this Australia Day for a game of cricket with the widely known In 2 Cricket crew! Parents who also like a game of cricket are more than welcomed to get involved and play along with their kids. The cricket games will be on Beach 4 and will begin at 2pm through to 4pm.
