Heritage series launch 10th booklet

The latest booklet to launch in the Geraldton Regional Library’s Mid West Heritage Booklets series, Mining in the Mid West, was officially launched on Tuesday, February 26 by CEO of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia, Reg Howard-Smith.
Written by Mary Callaghan, Education Officer at the Western Australian Museum – Geraldton, the booklet is based on the Unearthed: Mining Stories from the Mid West exhibition, developed by the museum.
The booklet covers small stories from ex-miners and their families, local historical societies and mining companies from the past and present.
City of Greater Geraldton Manager Libraries and Heritage, Susan Smith, said the Mid West Heritage Series is a significant factor not only to the state, but Nationally.
“It is quite exciting to see the booklet published, what we aim to do with the series is to celebrate our beautiful heritage in the Mid West and provide this history to our tourists and community,” she said.
“With funding from the City we are able to focus on the historical topics that present information in an entertaining and engaging manner for our audiences.”
Mining in the Midwest is the 10th booklet to be published in the series and is available for purchase from the Geraldton Regional Library for $9.95.
