The City of Greater Geraldton, Tourism WA and Royalties for Regions have joined forces to sponsor a yacht named 'Geraldton Western Australia', which will splash West Australian branding around the world and sail majestically into Champion Bay on October 29.

At 64,000 kilometres (40,000 miles) the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is the world's longest global ocean race contested by 10 identical stripped down 68 foot racing yachts, each sponsored by a city, region, country or company.

The race left Southampton, England on July 31 and will visit 14 ports on six continents taking 12 months to complete. Clipper 11-12 stopovers are Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Geraldton, New Zealand, Singapore, Qingdao, California, New York, Nova Scotia, Derry-Londonderry and the Netherlands.
