DAY 2009
Event Introduction
Planning has now commenced for the Annual
Geraldton-Greenough Australia Day Celebrations 2009, this event will be held
on Monday 26th January 2009.
This celebration is a major event within the City of Geraldton – Greenough
which is the highlight of summer. In 2008 the event attracted over 3,000

Committee Structure
The Committee is made up of representatives from the City of
Geraldton-Greenough, Soroptomist International Geraldton, WA Police,
Community members, Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club, Geraldton Rotary
Club, Geraldton Greenough Rotary Club and youth representatives.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Australia Day 2009 has a range of celebrations throughout the day.
These include:
• Flag Raising and Awards breakfast at QE2 Centre
• Children’s Beach Party at Foreshore
• Seniors Afternoon Tea at QE2 Centre
• Youth Concert at Maitland Park
• Family Concert at Maitland Park
• Fireworks
Onstage entertainment – Youth Concert and Family Concert
Live onstage entertainment at Maitland Park will start at 2pm with a youth
concert.
Live entertainment is a key draw card to the Australia Day event. These
performances draw both families and the community together to celebrate and
enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of Australia Day.
The Committee is and will continue to engage a diverse range of
entertainment that meet the social and cultural needs of the community.
FOOD STALLS
There’s nothing better than great food to accompany great entertainment!
A variety of cultural food stalls will be available offering a selection of
gourmet options.
FIREWORKS
The fireworks are one of the main attractions of the 2009 Australia Day
celebrations. Thousands of people gather in Maitland Park and at vantage
points around the city to be spellbound by the spectacular fireworks.
SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES
Sponsorship benefits include company logo recognition in all promotional
and media advertising leading up to and during the event.
Benefits are related to the different levels of sponsorship, i.e. Platinum,
Gold, Silver and Bronze as outline below.
The facilitators of this event will ensure that a well managed campaign is
