Fire Control

The City of Geraldton-Greenough supports the Voluntary Bush Fire Brigade Service. There are four volunteer brigades covering the City. Cape Burney/Rudds Gully Brigade, Walkaway Brigade, Waggrakine Brigade and the Moonyoonooka Brigade.

RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD

The restricted burning period has started as of the 15th April 2009, with the exception of the General Farming area. The General Farming area are not required to obtain a Fire Permit from the 15 April 2009.

All Urban and Special Rural areas require a permit. Residential areas must apply for a burning permit and inspection during the restricted burning period.

The Chief Bush Fire Control Officer is now Craig Wing - The Deputy Chief is Rich Maslen - all areas.

The four brigade areas each have a fire tender vehicle housed at a station plus a Fast Attack tender vehicle that is housed at the City compound. The vehicles are spread around the City to ensure a quick response to any fires or emergencies that may arise.
