Mid West Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Fund
The Mid West Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Fund was established in mid
1998. The fund was instigated by the former Shire of Greenough as a Youth initiative.
This program now is an essential component of the City's Youth Policy.
The vision of the City's Youth Policy is to play a key role in creating
opportunities for young people to reach their potential, goals and dreams.

The Mid West Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Fund provides an opportunity
to bring together many of the resources within our community to offer
a greater number of opportunities for young people.
Leeuwin Ocean Adventures aim to provide young people with a chance
to develop skills in leadership and team work as well as learning the
value of community spirit. The STS Leeuwin II is Western Australia's
own Tall Ship. The ship is operated by the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation,
a private, not for profit organisation based in Fremantle, Western Australia.
Since the ship was launched in 1986 over 13,000 people have participated
in an Ocean Adventure Program.
The voyage programs last for approximately 10 days and are designed
to foster personal development and enhance environmental awareness.
The Foundation has a 70% focus on youth aged 14 to 25 years. Participants
can chose from a wide range of voyages that are suited to both their
age group and personal interests.
The Mid West Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Fund welcomes any young people
aged between 15 and 25 to fill out a nomination form if they are interested
in going on a Leeuwin Adventure.
To make this Fund a success we rely on generous sponsorship from
service groups, businesses and the wider community. You can help us
achieve this by sponsoring a participant on a voyage of self discovery.
Together Leeuwin Ocean Adventure and our sponsors are making a real
difference in young peoples lives.
